History about Houndstooth Patterns

Houndstooth textiles dating back to the Bronze Age have been discovered in the Hallstatt Celtic Salt Mine in Austria, dating back to 1500-1200 BC. One of the most notable early examples of houndstooth is the Gerum Cloak, which was found in a Swedish peat bog and is estimated to be from the period between 360 and 100 BC. While the contemporary houndstooth check pattern may have initially been derived from woven tweed cloth in the Scottish Lowlands, it is now utilized in a variety of other woven fabrics, not just wool.

Our Story

Our name DOLEN is from Mongolian, which means “Warm”.

  • The Natural Material---Cashmere

Cashmere is one of the most luxury natural fiber, which collected from the goat living in the high Himalayan plateaus of China and Mongolia.

It is widely believed that the origin of the cashmere dates back to 13th century---the Monglian empire.

The scarves, shawls and stoles which spun from cashmere become more and more popular in 19th century thanks to development of The Silk Road.
